A building on top of a bus station

Métra + Associés came up with a crazy project to bury a multi-storey bus station and 200 parking spaces underground right in the middle of the 20th arrondissement of Paris. Above ground are 29,840 m² of office space on five floors, and split into two sections, with 26,000 m² of offices currently occupied by the French Interior Ministry, and 3,500 m² of public facilities that will accommodate a secondary school and a nursery.

Award-winning and certified project

This bold project from architect Brigitte Métra won the 2013 Pyramide d’Argent award in the commercial category. The building’s economical and environmental performances have seen it certified HQE (High Quality Environmental standard) and rated Very Good on the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) scale. The purpose of these two honours is to highlight buildings that have a controlled impact on the environment during construction and use.
