Did you know?
10 years without chromium
In 2016, Miralu has already a decade ahead!
In 2006, Miralu made a major a decision for its employees’ health: We stopped using hexavalent Chromium on the surface aluminium treatment – commonly called Chromium 6 or yellow chromatation.
Et bascule vers une technologie respectueuse de la santé des opérateurs et de l’environnement.
2016… a decade ahead! Whereas several companies, specialized in coil coating or post painting, are still looking for a solution for the statutory problems; Miralu has built a solid experience though the several challenges all along the years to secure its process. We improved the quality of our product with a tough selection of our raw materials. We intensified in a huge way our knowledge and skills of aluminium treatment surface.
To produce with a hexavalent Chromium is like producing with a Damoclès sword upon our head. It is an enormous human being risk and an industrial danger also.
To go further
with hexavalent Chromium, one may know that it is:
- Listed in the so-called ROHS Directive like lead, mercury, etc.
- Listed to the appendix XIV of the REACH regulation … and in a short-term it will be totally banned.
- Recognized as a professional disease in France.
- Targeted by a new law called “DETOX” which aim is to substitute all the CMR products (carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic for reproduction).
That means that this product could be forbidden from one day to another.
The use of a carcinogenic product such as Hexavalent Chromium is very problematic because of its implementation conditions and above all because of its impact on employees’ health.
Can we accept that operators are having such monumental health risks every day and for a long period? Each company has a societal role towards its employees’ health and security. It must be a daily concern.
